The exercise was supposed to take place on March 11, but INEC, citing a logistical crisis due to the setup and transportation of the BVAS, said the election could not go ahead as planned after a management meeting on Wednesday night.
“The election has been postponed to allow another week to prepare,” an official close to the meeting disclosed this on Wednesday night. “We should be able to get everything in order before March 18.”
At the time of this report, the meeting was still ongoing at INEC headquarters in Abuja.
The commission persuaded the Abuja branch of the Court of Appeal to overturn its order and granted Peter Obi of the Labor Party and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP permission to inspect election materials on the the premise that it had to reconfigure the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) for the conduction of the polls this Saturday..
